At Thelma's Garden, there are three factors that make our education model innovative, compared to existing schools. Our model incorporates the benefits of inclusiveness; endeavors to implement the social emotional and academic development (SEAD) model in an early childhood education; and takes advantage of the notion of "play" to introduce a structured Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum.
Thelma's Garden Education Academy provides high quality pre-school/Kindergarten services for students identified with behavior disabilities and regular education students in Fayette County, Lexington Ky.
This inclusive setting utilizes a social emotional academic development model and collaborative problem solving to establish foundation skills for students and increase rates of elementary school proficiency.
High-quality early childhood education is a critical component of K-12 success, and research shows it can help close the achievement gap.
By providing high quality early childhood development supports, Thelma's Garden Education Academy prepares children to learn and succeed in school, compete in the global economy and contribute to thriving communities.
Disadvantaged children, who are more likely to start school behind and stay behind, are the least likely to attend high-quality preschool programs, according to research by the RAND Corporation.
